A Little About Me...

My obsession for fishing started when I was just two years of age.. My father would take me outside to our farm pond in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, he’d have me bait the hook, and we’d sit on the banks and watch that bobber go down. It was pure bliss.
I was merely five when I first experienced fly fishing! My dad and I once again found ourselves fishing, but this time it was on the banks of a mighty southeastern tailwater. As we sat on the banks with our clear bobbers and salmon eggs, I was in awe of the anglers walking through the water, waving colorful lines everywhere. I thought they were wizards practicing magic.. It was that winter dad bought me my first fly rod; an 8ft 6in 5wt masterpiece. Unknowingly, my world would be forever changed.
I passionately chased trout all over the east coast: From Georgia all the way to upstate New York. From massive tailwater rivers, to finicky spring creeks, to bumbling little mountain streams all over the Appalachian chain. Eventually I chased my passion for fly fishing to Missoula, Montana. I lived there for three years and graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Environmental Science.
After graduating college I moved back to Northeastern Pennsylvania. It’s in these battered mountains of the northeast I found my home, and started my fly fishing outfitter. It’s also in these mountains I found my life's best work - my wife Renee! She’s everything to me, along with our three cats: Pizno, Phoebe, and Jackie. Together we’ve traveled all over this country and beyond in search of rivers and mountains. Countries like New Zealand and Canada are favorites of ours.
Where it all began...
Throughout high school I worked in fly fishing retail which helped me work on people skills. You meet all types of people working in a fly shop! In college I competed in a collegiate level world fly fishing championship in Cong, Ireland. Although I wasn’t crazy about competitive fly fishing, it was a great learning experience. I began my fly fishing outfitter once I moved back home to Pennsylvania. Now, I’m a licensed guide in PA and NY where I mostly row clients down the famous Upper Delaware River in search of its finicky wild brown and rainbow trout.
From there I began writing fly fishing articles for several prominent fly fishing magazines around the country. With Renee by my side and behind the camera lens, we created beautiful work. A recent achievement I’m very proud of is becoming an Umpqua Signature Fly Tyer. They’re a world renown fly tying company supplying fly shops all over and I’m blessed to have a few of my custom fly patterns through them.
I’m so thankful for everything fly fishing has given me! I honestly can’t imagine where my life would be without it!
Proud to say...
Fly fishing for trout has molded this life I love and appreciate so much! So if you’ve made it this far on the page, thank you. Hopefully, you’ll allow me to show you down the river some day.
This life I have created has allowed me to cross paths with my beautiful wife Renee. We travel all over the world to hike and fly fish, and when we’re not traveling to chase trout and mountains, or working, we’re at home with our three cat fur babies who we love more than anything: Pizno, Phoebe, and Jackie. There’s never a dull moment in our lives that's for sure.
